OUR VISION
Our VISION is to give the traditional martial artist as well as the complete novice the basic tools and concepts to survive a violent encounter. There are MANY instances of highly trained martial artists and professional fighters who were seriously injured or killed by untrained yet violent attackers. They did not understand the "rules of engagement" in the street vs. the dojo/ring.
SAMA is taught by a team of varied martial arts instructors and schools who are passionate about providing affordable personal safety training along with their traditional training programs.
We are passionate about helping our friends stay safe by understanding and training the three phases of any self defense encounter.

AWARE
This is possibly the single most important aspect of self-defense. We must learn to
think about our actions and make wise decisions about our safety. We must train
ourselves to be aware of our surroundings and circumstances and know
when we need to be alert and aware of possible danger. We must learn how to become an "Undesirable Target".

AVOID

We train to react automatically when threatened by using a de-escaltion or "safe" stance to put ourselves in a prepared yet non threating position. We want to avoid being punched, grabbed, tackled, choked, stabbed, etc. while using the element of surprise to attack the attacker. This comes through repeated drills and increasingly realistic practice to the point where you do not need to think, you just react.

ATTACK
The goal of any self defense encounter is to escape to safety. However, at the point we realize an attack is imminent, we must turn the tables and become the attacker. We must learn to use violence as a tool to survive.
In a serious self defense situation we must cause a serious injury to the attacker or we will not be likely to survive.
